Ministry Of Food

No, my friends, this is not a legit ministry. It's a restaurant.
So today, after my (horrible) geography paper, I went out to Serangoon NEX to have a bit of fun with my friends. Studying geog for so long was really tiring, and we thought since we ended early today and we don't have any more heavy papers, we should go out and relax for a few hours (actually, the original plan was just to have a light brunch but...).
One of my friends had this sudden craving for MOF, so I thought, okay, no harm trying...
The particular MOF we went to had more than one brand, namely Lenas, My Izakaya, Amasoy and Danro Japanese Hotpot Place. MOF looked pretty nice from the outside, but when me and my friends got seated we instantly noticed something. There was a pungent smell.
We then found out the stench was from one of the menus on our table.
Without wasting any time, we quickly ordered our food and drinks and shoved the menu away.
I ordered a ham and onion spaghetti ($13.90++) from Lenas (black pepper base) along with a cup of matcha latte ($5.80++) from..... I don't know which brand I got it from. My friends ordered an iced cafe latte, iced matcha, pesto genevese with chicken, dory curry rice, matcha mochi and this fried noodles which I have no idea what its called.
We didn't have to wait long for the drinks. Or possibly because we were the first customers. The drinks were good, definitely, but the iced matcha was a bit too sweet because it tasted almost like my iced matcha latte. The only difference was probably the lack of cream. My friend also commented that her iced cafe latte was too milky (that is, the cream taste was overwhelming and covered the coffee aroma). Here's a picture of my drink (with a random snapchat caption):

I didn't have to wait for my pasta for too long either: it took about 10 or 15 minutes to arrive after the drinks did. I swear, when it was put before me, I was bombarded by the overwhelming smell of the food, IT WAS SO FRAGRANT, all of my friends grabbed their cutlery to steal my food.
Even before I even got to eat it.
Here's a picture of it:

Please don't judge my photography skills,
The food was really great except for one thing: the black pepper was a bit too spicy. After I was done eating my whole throat was on fire.
About the rest of the food: the pesto genevese with chicken tasted rather bland, the dory curry rice was wonderful and the fish was really really great, and the noodles were really tasty, the matcha mochi was good BUT my advice would be that if you only drink sweetened matcha or eat sweetened matcha desserts, this is definitely not for you, because it isn't sweetened.
The food was great but the price wasn't. The 4 of us had a total bill of $83++ dollars, including service charge and GST. But thank goodness, one of my friend's uncle came down specially just to present his discount card (THANKS UNCLE) for a 10% discount. And also because we had a promotion for the pasta, my friend and I got to pay slightly cheaper. The total price I ended up paying was WAY CHEAPER THAN WHAT IT ORIGINALLY WAS.
But anyway, this place is worth giving a shot. They play great music, the food is great, the drinks are great... But the price, less so. So if you're on a budget, I wouldn't really recommend this place.
