I know how delayed this post is but I'm still going to write it anyway. Can't blame me for being too busy at work.
It's already 2015, so happy new year everyone, even though I'm about a week late. Looking back on 2014, it's been a ridiculously rough year, no doubt rougher than any other year I've been through.
2014 marked my final year in secondary school, meaning I had to deal with GCE O Levels. While this alone gave me enough emotional stress to deal with, I also had the betrayal of friends who added on to it, making me feel more horrible than ever. On top of that, I had also applied for Direct Polytechnic Application (DPA) but had failed, which crushed my morale even more. To add on to my stress, I had to plan an event in school a few weeks before my O levels. Imagine how crazy I went when problems from the event surfaced.
All this may not sound THAT terrible as you thought it might be, but trust me, you wouldn't want to be in my shoes.
While I went through all this crap, I initially saw them negatively but later I decided I could change my perspective and see all of this in a more positive way (except for O levels, which I cannot think of any statement to make it better).
The betrayal of friends made me take more caution in making friends. I made a note to myself that this time it is a mistake made, a lesson learnt, and I should never make this fault ever again. The failed DPA application allowed me to think through my choices again, and I was very thankful to be rejected, because later I found out I did not have a real passion for the course I applied for. What initially made me obsessed with it and apply for it on impulse, I don't know.
The event I planned alongside with a schoolmate turned out to be a success (though with a little problems here and there), and I actually had a lot of fun. The planning itself also had wonderful moments which I shall not share here, because they're too precious and also if made known to you, you might not necessarily understand the significance of it.
2014 was also very, very eventful. I got injured at the start of the year which ended up triggering a long term injury, and I had to see a physiotherapy for this. I am very thankful I got to meet him because he was a really great person and helped me a lot on the road to recovery, and my only regret is to not take a picture with him before I left. Of course, not forgetting the doctor who initially diagnosed me with this injury so I could be treated correctly.
Other than that, I also got to take a picture with my friends and a minister... Which was really unforgettable. You'll see why here:
I also went for my first ever blood donation last year since I've already arrived at the minimum age for donation. It wasn't a very good experience for a newbie, because an hour or so after I was done donating and was eating, I threw up and fainted. But it was worth it anyway, to be able to help people who need my blood.
Of course, not forgetting the event I succeeded in planning: 50 Waves of Cheer. I must say, I really had a superb time with the athletes as well as the students, and I really hope the students enjoyed it... Even though I know some (or even most) students thought it was a complete waste of time.
2014 also marked the year of my graduation, and on graduation day I had a lot of fun taking pictures and receiving gifts. What was not so fun was probably the principal's speech and having to wait countless classes before us to go up the stage to get the graduation certificate.
Last but not least, I was able to join Starbucks as a barista after my exams so I could support myself financially and allow my parents to save more money. I met a lot of crazy people on the job, and up until now I have no regrets for joining the job.... YET.
I hope 2015 is a good year for me and everyone else.
